Jalapeno Cheese Bread

I don't know what's wrong with me, but I don't like cornbread. I adore corn and I'm from the South, so you'd naturally assume I'd be all over cornbread. No sir! I haven't figured out if it's the gritty-ness of the cornmeal that gets to me, or just the overall taste.

I have found a wonderful substitute for cornbread, and this is jalapeno cheese bread. I know, the two aren't alike at all, but I've found that dishes where you would normally eat cornbread, the jalapeno cheese bread has been a terrific alternative! Our favorite way to eat it is toasted with cream cheese on top.

JALAPENO CHEESE BREAD
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 cup Colby Jack cheese
  • 4-6 tablespoons chopped jalapenos (depending on what level of hotness you desire)
  • 3 cups bread flour
  • 1/2 tablespoon active dry yeast
Add the ingredients to your bread machine according to the manufacturers instructions. Set the machine on regular basic bread with a medium crust.

well I love cornbread, but I might have to give this one a try! Have you tried the cornbread muffins at Famous Daves? They are excellent-who cares about the ribs! You'll have to try them, maybe you'll change your mind!
