Snickerdoodles

So I've been totally slacking on blogging the past couple of weeks...this holiday season has been CRAZY! I haven't even decorated for Christmas yet, and it's less than a week away. I guess I'll have to chalk this season as a loss.

My favorite part of Christmas are cookies. I can never seem to get enough of them. So, I thought I'd post my all-time favorite recipe for my all-time favorite cookies. And if anyone wants to make them for me, I can give you my address. =)

SNICKERDOODLES
  • 1 cup butter-flavored shortening
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 3/4 cup sifted flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • 4 tablespoons cinnamon
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets.

In a medium bowl, cream together the shortening and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, mixing after each. Sift together the flour, baking soda, cream of tartar and salt; stir into the creamed mixture until well blended.

In a small shallow bowl, stir together the 4 tablespoons of sugar with the cinnamon. Roll the dough into walnut sized balls and roll the balls in the sugar mixture. Place cookies 2 inches apart on the prepared cookie sheet. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven. Cookies should be slightly golden at the edges. Remove to cool on wire racks.

To me, this is a true snickerdoodle recipe because it uses cream of tartar. This is one of my favorite cookies, too. Yours look great!

So any snickerdoodle cravings??? Also, make sure you're checking the babycenter.com website to see what the babe is looking like, and they also compare the baby's size to fruit, and then objects... very fun! So SO excited!
