All of the grocery stores around here are having case lot sales, so Joe and I have been stocking up on some of the essentials and have a pretty good amount of food storage. We have converted one of the guest bedrooms into the "food storage" room, so whoever gets the opportunity to spend the night in that room can help themselves to many months worth of midnight snacks!
I started out following a recipe with this soup and then ended up adding a bunch of my own stuff from our abundant food storage supply. To tell you the truth, I thought it was going to taste gross but it pleasantly surprised us and was perfect for a cool, crisp evening!
FOOD STORAGE SOUP
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- BBQ seasoning (or your favorite kind)
- 3 cans beef broth
- 1 can diced tomatoes (I used the Italian kind)
- 2 small cans tomato sauce
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 package frozen green peas
- 1 can corn
- 1/2 lb. cooked penne pasta
Brown the ground beef with the onion and sprinkle your favorite seasoning over top. While this is browning, start cooking the penne pasta. Once both of these things are cooked, combine all the ingredients together and simmer for 20 minutes. Doesn't get easier than that!
