This is the dang best apple pie you'll ever eat. Ever. It is absolutely, without a doubt, the best tasting AND easiest homemade goodness on earth. It's guaranteed to bring moans and groans from all who eat it.
I came across the recipe on AllRecipes.com and thought, "What kind of pie would generate 456 positive (5 star) reviews?" Well, Grandma Ople's Apple Pie does of course! And whoever Grandma Ople is, bless her culinary soul for sharing this scrumptious recipe with the rest of the world!
GRANDMA OPLE'S APPLE PIE
- 1 recipe for a double crust 9-inch pie (After countless tries in the past, I've succumbed to relying on Pillsbury for my store-bought crusts)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 8 Granny Smith apples - peeled, cored and sliced (I bought large apples and only used 6)
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon (optional)
Meanwhile, place the bottom crust in your pan. Fill with apples, mounded slightly. Sprinkle cinnamon over top of apples. Cover with a lattice work of crust. Gently pour the sugar and butter liquid OVER the crust. Pour slowly so that it does not run off.
Bake 15 minutes at 425 degrees. Reduce the temperature to 350 degrees and continue baking for 45 minutes.

Happy late birthday! I hope you enjoyed your day off doing lots of fun things! I love your mouth watering blog. One of these days I just might find the energy to cook. In the meantime I shall dream by all of your scrumptious posts! I am still trying to find my mom's canned apple bit. It is too late this year, but as soon as I find it I'll send it your way.
I have been craving an apple pie so badly lately!! My favorite recipe comes from allrecipes as well, but I might just have to give this one a try!
Thanks for planning all my food for my Thanksgiving! It all looks sooooo good. I think I'll do a test run of the pie this Sunday. Mmmmm....pie
Don't ever ask me to peel apples its so boring
Why do pies scare me so bad? (to make) They seem so easy...I'll have to give this one a try, only if you promise to give making jell-o a try too. :)
