Valentine's Day Sugar Cookies

A few years ago my friend Kristine brought some of the most amazing sugar cookies to work for Valentine's Day. It's a tradition in her family to make them and I'm so happy she shared the cookies and the recipe with us! I have continued the tradition of making them every Valentine's Day and I just really hope that my morning sickness won't interfere with making them this year!!

VALENTINE'S DAY SUGAR COOKIES
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups butter
  • 7 cups flour (as you can already see, these make A LOT!)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 package vanilla pudding (non-instant)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
Mix together and roll out the dough. Using a cookie cutter, cut out the amount of cookies you want and place on a cookie sheet. If the dough is sticky (which mine always is), refrigerate for an hour or two. This batch makes A LOT, so cut it in half if you just wanted to bake a couple dozen. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.

FROSTING
  • 4 ounces cream cheese
  • 1/2 square of butter
Soften and mix together. Add:
  • 1 pound powder sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
Mix together until smooth. If this is too thick for your liking, you can add milk to thin it out. Enjoy!

Am I forgetting something or is this your first announcement of "morning sickness?" Congratulations! I hope you're able to make your cookies, too! :-)

CLAIRE - I announced earlier on here that I'm pregnant. I will be giving birth to a baby boy mid-July. I've been super sick the whole time and I'm not a fan of being pregnant! =)

KRISTINE - That is very early for you to make the cookies! Way to be on the ball!

STEPHANIE - I hope you like these cookies! They are so soft and moist. My favorite!

I have fond memories of these cookies. Covered in thick frosting and conversation hearts. I wanna come HOME!

KRISTEN - I'm so happy that you loved them! I think the pudding powder mixed in the batter really makes this dessert. I had such a terrible headache the night before Vday and couldn't make them. I plan on doing it this weekend and celebrating the holiday a little late. =)
