Hot Hammie Sammie

I can't believe that it's been a whole month since I posted on this blog! Here's why - it's summer and I've been playing! My sister-in-law came in to town and was staying with us and she introduced all her yummy recipes to us. And when she wasn't cooking I wasn't experimenting, just remaking old classics. So for the next few recipes I post they will be courtesy of Shellie.

Shellie made this one for us at my parent's cabin and we all loved it! I'm a huge fan of sandwiches, so this was right up my alley.

HOT HAMMIE SAMMIE
  • 3/4 cup oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 cup vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • Sliced ham
  • Mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 French bread loaf
  • Mayonnaise
  • Mustard
Mix together the oil, salt, sugar, vinegar, garlic powder, and water. Put aside. Cut the French bread down the middle so you have two big pieces. Mix together some mayo and mustard. Spread on each side of the bread. Place the bread on a cookie sheet open faced. Put the ham on the bottom and the cheese on the top. Pour the sauce over the ham. This makes a lot of sauce and you should use the whole thing for one loaf. Place the sandwich open faced in the oven and broil until cheese melts. When done, put the halves together and slice large pieces.

**I personally like the Boar's Head Deluxe Ham shaved.
