Apple Dumplings

So I've been seeing a recipe for apple dumplings in random places that has Mountain Dew as one of the ingredients. I thought of how weird that was and not being a big Mountain Dew fan, I passed on the desire to make it. But then crazy pregnancy hormones kicked in and I got a craving for Mountain Dew. Our friends Lindsay and Scott invited us over for dinner, so I volunteered to make this for dessert and we all loved it! You don't taste the Mountain Dew at all and I think it tastes better than apple pie! It's very easy to make, so try it!

APPLE DUMPLINGS
  • 2 Granny Smith apples
  • 2 cans crescent rolls
  • 2 sticks butter
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoons vanilla
  • Cinnamon
  • 1 small can Mountain Dew (I used half a regular-sized 12 ounce bottle)
Peel and core apples. Cut apples into 8 slices each. Roll each apple slice in a crescent roll. Place in a 9 x 13 buttered pan. Melt butter, then add sugar and barely stir. Add vanilla, stir, and pour over apples. Pour Mountain Dew around the edges of the pan. Sprinkle with cinnamon and bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes. Serve with ice cream, and spoon some of the sweet sauces from the pan over the top.

My sister-in-law was telling me about this today. Tim loves anything with cooked apples. Thanks for posting!
